28th Jun 2023
With Susuana Amoah & Sarah Davies, Tuesday 4th July 2023, 4-5pm
Please note that we have changed how to sign up for the CEF events. To register your attendance please click here.
In our next session we will hear from Sarah Davies, Director of Arts on Board, who will explain how she is helping arts organisations to recruit trustees from diverse backgrounds. Arts on Board is a relatively new service from Trustees Unlimited, specially tailored for arts and culture sector. Trustees Unlimited strives to remove the barriers that prevent people from applying to become trustees and helps its clients to recruit and support people with a wide range of skills and lived experience.
The Cultural Equity Forum is a series of open digital forums for art workers on cultural equity and social justice as part of our VISUALISE programme. Participants can present and discuss upcoming/work-in-progress projects aimed at improving cultural equity in the contemporary visual arts sector. As well as helping you develop your work, the forum is a great way to find out about new initiatives, ideas, and directions developing within the contemporary visual arts sector. Each session is devised and led by Susuana Amoah.

What is Cultural Equity?
“Cultural equity embodies the values, policies, and practices that ensure that all people—including but not limited to those who have been historically underrepresented based on race/ethnicity, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, geography, citizenship status, or religion—are represented in the development of arts policy; the support of artists; the nurturing of accessible, thriving venues for expression; and the fair distribution of programmatic, financial, and informational resources” (Americans for the Arts)
How do I get involved?
Each presentation is expected to be around 20 minutes in length, followed by a 20-minute open discussion. If you would like to present a project that you are working on please send a max. 250-word project blurb and 100-word bio to info@cvansoutheast.com with the subject title Cultural Equity Forum.

Access
If you need any reasonable adjustments to enable you to access the session please contact us as soon as possible.
Please note, we want people to feel free to speak on sensitive issues so we have made the decision not to record the forums. Instead we are producing notes of each session which will be added to this section of our website shortly.
VISUALISE is funded by Arts Council England.
