Jerwood Gallery Explores a New Model for the Future

15th Feb 2019

Readers may have seen reports in the national press that the Jerwood Foundation intends to end its close association with Jerwood Gallery, the contemporary art museum that it founded in 2012 on Hastings’ Stade. From its inception Jerwood Gallery has played a prominent role in the cultural success story of Hastings and the East Sussex coast. The Gallery joined the CVAN South East network last year and is a greatly valued asset for the visual arts in our region.

Since 1991, Jerwood Foundation has channelled over £100 million in capital and revenue funding in support of the arts and education in the UK. It is a longstanding funder of the visual arts, including in the South East, through its various projects, grants, awards and bursaries.

In a statement Jerwood Gallery’s Director, Liz Gilmore, has voiced the trustees’ commitment to charting a future for the Gallery in Hastings. We hope they will be successful in securing this outcome for the Gallery’s audiences and communities beyond 2019.
