Neurodiversifying the Arts Award
29th Jan 2019
Congratulations to the five artists from Project Art Works‘ Parachute Club, who have passed their Silver Arts Award. (The Silver Arts Award is an accredited qualification that is equivalent to a GCSE A-C grade.)
Silver Arts Award were presented to: Carl Sexton, Gabriella Rapisarda, Connor Ashley, Sharif Persaud (pictured), and Ellen Prebble.
Project Art Works created an online portfolio to capture the progression of the artists and makers involved in Arts Award. Visit the portfolios at artsawardsproject.com.
Project Art Works introduced Arts Award to the studio programme in 2017. Parachute Club creates a unique learning environment for young adults with autism and complex support needs who would otherwise struggle to find educational placements. The programme supports young artists and makers towards greater communication, self-expression and community integration. The five portfolios evidence the benefit of relevant and bespoke studio and learning environments. Mainstream education has presented many challenges and barriers for these young people, yet they have achieved strong bodies of work through personalised studio practice. Arts Awards is an ideal platform to share, champion and accredit these achievements.
