Pause and Review: Shaping the future

30th Jan 2025

Pause and Review

We are taking a break from regular activity to review the CVAN South East programme and partnership network.

We will use this time to work with our network, listen to artists and others, and gather the evidence to shape our future direction.

The purpose of this review is to stay relevant to our regional visual arts sector and return CVAN South East to financial stability.

There will be further updates on this process over the next few months.

Shaping The Future

Later this year, like most of our network partners, we are due to apply for continued Arts Council England investment through the National Portfolio for 2027-30 (as part of our host organisation, Modern Art Oxford).

Financial conditions are set to continue to be challenging for artists and non-profit organisations. We must also respond to a fast-changing policy context under a relatively new government. So we are taking some time to ask how we can work together more effectively and sustainably as a network to strengthen the visual arts ecology in our region.

Ongoing Activity

Our Jobs & Opportunities Board and monthly newsletter will continue during this period, as will the mentoring programme for the four Platform Graduate Award 2024 awardees.

Regular meetings, such as the Climate Action Group, Neurodivergent Peer Group and Comms Network will be suspended and engagement work, such as one-to-ones with artists and action on fair pay, will be affected. We will of course be in touch with the groups concerned.
