Young Artists: Photography

9th Jul 2020

CVAN South East network partner, Photoworks, have announce a new opportunity for young artists to tell their unique stories through photography this summer.

Photoworks are working with English Heritage, as part of Shout Out Loud which asks young photographers to create new digital photographic artworks exploring their heritage – especially untold heritage.

Artist Alejandra Carles-Tolra will lead a series of four free online workshops for young people between 13 and 18 that delve into English Heritage stories, places and people, and capture our current situations through the lens of history.

Each workshop will focus on a different sub-theme revealed via English Heritage and Photoworks channels. The workshops will all introduce creative approaches to photography, helping participants develop their ideas, with an introduction to simple photographic processes.

Workshops take place on 17 July, 31 July, 14 August, 28 August from 4pm-6pm on Zoom.

Young people can book here to join in https://bit.ly/2VUZ1VE – they are free to attend!

This project is part of Photoworks’ 25th anniversary programme looking at Alternative Narratives, which attempts to rethink traditional photographic histories and supports artists whose work has been lesser seen and under-acknowledged to date and highlight their practice. Selected works created will also be part of Photoworks Festival as an online exhibition this Autumn.

Find out more about this opportunity on the Photoworks website here.
