Curatorial Working Group

CVAN South East’s Curatorial Working Group was established in 2018 to promote equality, diversity and inclusion in the region’s visual arts programmes.
The group is a forum for knowledge exchange and mutual action between peers, encompassing a broad definition of curating in contemporary art, not only limited to exhibitions. The group numbers over 70 contacts in leading curatorial roles, including the partner organisations in the network who take turns to host the meetings. It meets three times per year and proceedings are fed back to our Steering Group.
We welcome independent curators and people from under-represented groups; the group itself currently reflects the lack of diversity in the sector. Meetings have taken place via video call since Spring 2020.
