Announcing the Platform Graduate Award 2023
23rd Aug 2023
We’re delighted to announce the return of the Platform Graduate Award, as the programme enters its eleventh year.
Established in 2012, the Platform Graduate Award initiative was designed to support emerging graduate artistic talent to further their practice following graduation.
For the second year running, we are delighted to be partnering with Visual Arts South West which extends the award across the whole of the South of England. This year’s award is supported by five partner arts organisations from across the South East and West region, including Aspex Portsmouth; Modern Art Oxford; Phoenix Art Space in Brighton; MIRROR at Arts University Plymouth; and Turner Contemporary in Margate.
CVAN South East and its partners are pleased to announce the graduate artists selected for the first stage of the award, which sees their work displayed in exhibitions across the region.

The next phase of Platform will see each partner organisation shortlist a finalist, from which one outstanding graduate will receive a £2000 bursary and 12 months of mentoring support. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges, including a representative from each partner and a guest artist, with previous years seeing Larry Achiampong, Michelle Williams Gamaker, Mikhail Karakis, Harold Offeh, Rosalind Nashashibiand, and Tai Shani contribute to the final decision. In addition, this year the five runner-up nominated artists will receive an award of £125.
The winner of the Platform Graduate Award 2023 will be announced in a ceremony this winter.
Stay tuned for more info on the artists!
