George Morl’s Precious Boys at Southend Museums

10th Jul 2018

Platform Alumni Artist George Morl has a solo exhibition opening at Southend Museum on Saturday 14 July. George Morl is an emerging ‘orange boy’ from South Essex who uses the seductive aesthetics of industrial and domestic materials to construct reproductions of psychological episodes to expose the often disguised events of adolescence under a plethora of social narratives, in which document and chronicle an individual’s path in reaching love.

George was selected for the Platform Graduate Award by Turner Contemporary in 2016, and says of the experience:

Being involved in the Platform Award gave me a greater sense of confidence that previously I did not have, and following this becoming a Platform Alumni artist enabled me to successfully submit a proposal to Southend Museums.

Precious Boys is showing in the Beecroft Art Gallery at the Southend Museum from 14 July to 8 September.
